Dr Chad Andersen is an internationally trained consultant neonatologist specialising in the care of sick newborns and infants. With over 30 years of experience in major tertiary centres, including leadership roles at the Women's and Children's Hospital, Adelaide and The Mercy Hospital for Women, Melbourne, he brings extensive expertise in managing complex neonatal care.

Dr Andersen’s work combines clinical excellence with research and education. He has conducted significant research in neonatal transfusion medicine, lung mechanics, and oxygen management, contributing to improved care standards for premature infants. More recently he has focused on integrating relationship-based care principles into neonatal services, drawing from the Reggio Emilia educational approach. Currently, he is undertaking higher degree research at the University of Adelaide, focusing on oxygen physiology in premature infants. Dr Andersen is actively involved in teaching medical students and training future specialists through his roles at the University of Adelaide.

Vanessa is a General Paediatrician who has been working in paediatric medicine since 2003. Sunandini – or Sunny as she is often called – is a General Paediatrician who is passionate about her work and loves spending time with patients and their families. Dr Kalliope Demetriou is a General Paediatrician and Paediatric Metabolic Specialist with over 20 years of experience working in paediatric healthcare. She attained a Bachelor of Medicine/ Bachelor of Surgery cum laude from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa in 1994, where she began working in paediatric medicine.

Kalliope and her family moved to Australia in 2002, and she worked in general paediatrics at the Redcliffe Hospital located in North Brisbane for the next 12 years. In 2015, Kalliope began undertaking dual specialisation in both General Paediatrics and Metabolic Medicine, a subgroup of Clinical Genetics. The first stage of her specialisation was completed at The Queensland Children’s Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, and the second stage was completed at the Children’s Hospital Westmead, the Sydney Children’s Hospital and the Westmead Adult Hospital. After obtaining dual Fellowships through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and becoming a Fellow of the Human Genetics Society of Australia, Kalliope worked as a Paediatric Metabolic Consultant at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide for over 2 years.

Additionally, metabolic medicine is one of Kalliope’s specialisations. Metabolic medicine refers to genetic conditions that affect specific biochemical pathways within cells. This usually occurs when a cellular enzyme or a specific transporter is not functioning optimally.  As a result, certain substances within cells may not be processed or recycled correctly. Metabolic conditions can affect cellular energy production or result in excessive accumulation of toxic substances or cellular storage materials. In her private practice at Adelaide Paediatrics, Kalliope can assess and investigate children who may have a metabolic disorder. If a metabolic diagnosis is made, as many of these conditions require hospital-based multidisciplinary management, she will liaise with her Metabolic colleagues at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and refer the child on if required. As metabolic disorders are genetic disorders, Kalliope is recognised as a Clinical Geneticist and can approve Medicare rebated genetic investigations or arrange additional gene panel analyses.

Bron is a Neonatal Paediatrician who relocated to Adelaide in 2020 after working as a consultant Neonatologist at Mercy Hospital, one of the largest perinatal centres in Melbourne, looking after extremely premature and sick newborns.

After graduating from the University of Birmingham, he completed specialist training in Paediatrics and then Neonatology at Norwich, Cambridge, and London. During this time he also received his Masters in Paediatric Infectious Diseases from Oxford University. Bron holds Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health

In addition to his private practice at Adelaide Paediatrics Ashford location, Bron also works as a Paediatric Retrieval Consultant with MedSTAR providing life-saving treatment for critically sick children and babies all over South Australia; transporting them safely to specialist centres. He also has several teaching and education roles. Bron is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Adelaide, teaching medical students in the management of acutely unwell children and babies, and also leads and organises Paediatric and Neonatal teaching for doctors, nurses, and paramedics all over rural South Australia.

In 2022 Subashni and her wonderful family moved to Australia, where she provided care for both babies and older patients during a six month term at Mount Gambier Regional Hospital. Following on, the family relocated to Adelaide and Subashni commenced work at Flinders Medical Centre, where she contributed her knowledge to the acute medicine ward service, outpatient department, and child protection service. Additionally, Subashni has been involved in supervising and mentoring medical students and junior colleagues. Subashni was admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics) in 2024.

Sonali is a Consultant General Paediatrician who has been working in Paediatric Medicine since 2001. She completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery through the University of Adelaide in 1999. Her Paediatric training was undertaken through the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre, The Lyell McEwin Health Service, Modbury Hospital and Port Augusta Hospital. She was admitted to Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2010 and since that time she has been working as a Consultant Paediatrician at Flinders Medical Centre and a Lecturer in Paediatrics at Flinders University in the School of Medicine.

Sonali consults in her private practice at Adelaide Paediatrics Kensington Park and is comfortable taking on the care of any child or adolescent up to 18 years of age.
